DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Sale

A full suite is generally done in one to two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. Our technicians work on avocado, pampas and pink baths, coloured basins and whole bathroom suites, and common reasons people get in touch are a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

What affects the price in Sale

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole suite, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

What we are called out for in Sale

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom

Questions to ask before you book

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How changes to the job are handled

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

How much does coloured bath resurfacing cost in Sale?

Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Sale. Our prices are the same everywhere.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Are there extra charges for Sale?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Repairing versus replacing in Sale

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white changes the colour without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Sale

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Sale

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths

What happens on the day

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job typically takes one to two days for a full suite. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Each item is left to cure, usually ready the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Sale

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
