Coloured bath resurfacing for Southgate homes

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Southgate

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. Whether it’s selling or letting a home with an old suite and faded or patchy colour, we can help.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a coloured suite involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Southgate customers choose us

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes one to two days for a full suite, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and primed.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. We leave everything to cure, normally until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured basins

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Southgate. The price reflects:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs

For a price in Southgate, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Southgate questions

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Do you come to Southgate?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Southgate from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Common problems we fix in Southgate

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is typically the colour, not the bath.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
