About bath repair in RH11
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and holes from dropped items.
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.
What you will pay
Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for RH11. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- No need to remove anything
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- One price list for the whole UK
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
How to get a price
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
Around Broadfield
We visit homes around Target Hill Park, Discovery New School and The New Moon pub and the streets around them. You will also find Cottesmore School (0.7 miles south-west), Seymour Primary School (less than half a mile north) and Christ The Lord (within half a mile north-east). For rail, the closest station is Crawley station, roughly 1.4 miles north-east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Crawley Hospital (1.5 miles north) and Crawley Museum (1.7 miles north-east). Not far away are Tilgate Lake.
Repair or replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.
What your quote should include
- Whether the price covers travel
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- How to look after the finish
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
What bath repair costs
Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How much damage there is
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.
How to get a fixed quote
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Details of any past repairs
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A picture taken from further back
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
When a repair is not the answer
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- A steel bath rusted through
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
Landlord and trade work in RH11
If you manage property in RH11, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
RH11 questions
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Can you quote from photos?
Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
What happens after I send photos?
We come back with a fixed price. There is no obligation to book.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
Do you come to RH11?
Yes, we do. We send a technician to RH11 for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
Are you accredited?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
