Coloured bath resurfacing in The Narth without replacing anything

A full suite is generally done in one to two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. Our technicians work on coloured basins, coloured shower trays and avocado, pampas and pink baths, and the jobs we see most are selling or letting a home with an old suite and faded or patchy colour.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take one to two days for a full suite, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Each item is left to cure, normally ready the day after.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the entire suite
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your NP25 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

What we’re called out for in The Narth

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s usually the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

Comparing quotes

  • How to look after the finish
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How the colour is matched

Choosing a repair company

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in The Narth

Repairing versus replacing in The Narth

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

FAQs for The Narth

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Monmouthshire, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you come to The Narth?

We do. We send a technician to The Narth for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.
