When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Tytherington

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Tytherington

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there is no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is generally done in one to two days. We are frequently asked to fix a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, in coloured basins, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured shower trays.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Tytherington. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Upload pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Tytherington, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Questions from Tytherington

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Do you cover the entire of Somerset?

Everywhere in the UK, Tytherington included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Can you turn my avocado bath white?

Yes. It’s resurfaced in white where it stands.

Are there extra charges for Tytherington?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What we’re called out for in Tytherington

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Who will actually do the work
  • When it can be used again

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • A fixed quote before you book

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a day or two, depending on how many items. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. We leave everything to cure, generally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.
