Coloured bath resurfacing for Whitesmith homes

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Whitesmith

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. Typical jobs include faded or patchy colour and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, in avocado, pampas and pink baths, coloured shower trays and coloured basins.

Somewhere as small as Whitesmith, you’ll find cottages, farmhouses and converted buildings. Many have heavy cast iron baths or baths in awkward spots, and removing a bath from an older house is rarely simple. Coloured bath resurfacing in place avoids all of that.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take one to two days for a full suite, and the room is left clean and tidy. In a village or hamlet like Whitesmith, access can be the only tricky part. Once we are there, the coloured bath resurfacing works exactly as anywhere else.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a coloured suite means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white changes the colour with everything left in place. Older homes around Whitesmith may have sizes and fittings that new pieces do not match. Repairing avoids those problems.

Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What we are called out for in Whitesmith

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. The problem is generally the colour, not the bath.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white

Landlords with property near Berwick (Sussex) station (about 4.5 miles south) use us between tenancies, so coloured suites are repaired rather than replaced.

Before booking anyone

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • When it can be used again
  • How to look after the finish

10 questions to ask before you book

Honest limits

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Whitesmith

  • The size and number of damaged areas

Whitesmith questions

Do you cover villages like Whitesmith?

We do: small places like Whitesmith are covered as standard. Tell us if access is tricky.

Is it worth repairing old coloured suites in a period home in Whitesmith?

Usually: original pieces are frequently better made and harder to replace. We will give you an honest view from pictures.

Can you quote from pictures?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you do the toilet too?

Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Landlord and trade work in Whitesmith

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Whitesmith homes and their baths
