How bath repair works in BN8
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Common call-outs are for chips under the taps and snagging damage from a refit, in roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the day after.
What you’ll pay
Prices start from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

What’s near Ringmer
Our customers here include homes close to The Anchor pub, The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin and Ringmer Community College and Sixth Form and the streets around them. DIY repairs versus a professional job
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Common problems we fix in BN8
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
Clients normally contact us about:
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Holes from dropped items
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Snagging damage from a refit
Repairs by material
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
When we would advise against a repair
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- A steel bath rusted through
Repair or replace?
Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it.
