Wood floor repair in Downton

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged board can mean lifting the floor back to it, finding a board that matches and relaying. Repairing it leaves the floor down. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Downton

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

About our wood floor repair in Downton

Boards are repaired where they lie, matched to the colour and grain. Water-swollen laminate needs replacing, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case. We’re frequently asked to fix gouges from moving appliances and burns, on wood-effect vinyl (ask us), solid wood and laminate flooring.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe up spills promptly.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage.
  2. Dents, chips and gouges are filled.
  3. We sand the repair flush with the board.
  4. The colour and grain are recreated by hand.
  5. Finally we match the sheen of the floor.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Downton: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do I need to move furniture?

Only from the area we’re working on.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Are there extra charges for Downton?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
