Laminate swollen by water can’t be repaired, and we’ll tell you if that is the case. We repair damaged boards in place, matched to the colour and grain. We regularly repair solid wood, laminate flooring and wood-effect vinyl (ask us), and common reasons people contact us are dents from dropped items and burns.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe up spills promptly.

How we price wood floor repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the whole floor
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away if a repair is the right fix.

What a repair can’t fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

High Street: your questions answered

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Landlords, agents and businesses in High Street

For anyone letting property in or around High Street, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. Dents, chips and gouges are filled.
  3. We level the repair to the board surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and grain by hand.
  5. Finally we match the sheen of the floor.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged board frequently means lifting boards to reach it, finding a board that matches and laying it all again. A repair leaves the floor down. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.
