Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in High Street, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

How we handle tile repair in High Street

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will tell you. The tile stays where it is, so you do not need to find a spare. We regularly repair porcelain tiles, ceramic tiles and floor and wall tiles, and people most often call us about drill holes from removed fittings and discontinued tiles you can’t replace.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in High Street and across Suffolk. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a morning or an afternoon. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage

High Street questions

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you come to High Street?

We do. Repair technicians travel to High Street from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will arrange it.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
