About our wood floor repair in How
Boards are repaired where they lie, matched to the colour and grain. Laminate swollen by water can’t be repaired, and we’ll be honest about that. We work on engineered wood, wood-effect vinyl (ask us) and solid wood, and the jobs we see most are burns and scratches from furniture and pets.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe spills straight away.

Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a board often means lifting boards to reach it, sourcing a matching board and relaying. Repairing it leaves the floor down. Our wood floor repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

The process
Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We clean the damaged area.
- We fill dents, chips and gouges.
- We sand the repair flush with the board.
- The colour and grain are recreated by hand.
- We finish the repair to match the sheen of the floor.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Ensure the area is dry
How to get a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Questions from How
What happens after I send pictures?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Do you cover the whole of Cumbria?
Everywhere in the UK, How included. There’s no extra charge for travel.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.
Will the price change on the day?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
What do you need from me?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
Can you quote from photos?
Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.
How we price wood floor repair
Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- How hard the colour is to match
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send photos for a quote
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- A photo taken from further back
If you’re in How and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
