Wood floor repair in Portmead

Wood floor repair in Portmead, done in place

Laminate swollen by water cannot be repaired, and we’ll be honest about that. We repair damaged boards in place, with the colour and grain matched by hand. We’re frequently asked to fix scratches from furniture and pets and burns, on engineered wood, wood-effect vinyl (ask us) and laminate flooring.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe up spills promptly.

10 questions to ask before booking

Common questions in Portmead

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can scratched laminate be fixed?

Yes. We fill and colour-match scratches and chips.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What affects the price in Portmead

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the entire floor

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged board can mean lifting the floor back to it, sourcing a matching board and relaying. Repairing it works with the boards in place. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Work done at your home or business
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

See our prices page.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Wood-effect vinyl (ask us)
  • Engineered wood
  • Solid wood
  • Laminate flooring

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. Dents, chips and gouges are filled.
  3. The repair is levelled to the board.
  4. We match the colour and grain by hand.
  5. Finally we match the sheen of the floor.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole floor, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
