Worktop repair at your home in Portmead
Different worktops need different repairs: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. The goal is always a repair that blends in. We regularly repair solid wood, quartz and granite & marble, and common reasons people get in touch are a dent from a dropped pan and knife marks.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Common problems we fix in Portmead
The worst damage frequently happens in a moment: a hot pan set straight down, or a heavy pan catching the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.
Look out for these signs:
- Damage from fitting or building work
- Damage to a stone worktop
- A chipped edge
- Knife marks
Questions to ask before booking
- Aftercare advice
- What protection goes down before work starts
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
What your worktop is made of matters
Granite and stone
Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.
Wood
Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Portmead: your questions answered
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
What information do you need?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Will the repair match a patterned worktop?
Yes, the pattern is built up by hand.
Do you cover Portmead?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Portmead. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
How soon can you come?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
What happens next?
You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.
Is it messy?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Honest limits
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- A cracked stone top that is unsupported
- Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
- Failed support under the worktop
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
Materials we repair
- Quartz
- Granite & marble
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
- Laminate
- Solid wood
How to look after the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
- Don’t knock pans against the edge
- Use a chopping board
- Wipe up spills quickly
Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.
Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.
The process
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We assess the damage and the worktop material.
- Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
- We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
- The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
- Finally we seal or finish the area to match.
Before we arrive
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
How to get a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Related advice
Work for landlords and builders
We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Portmead use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Portmead. The price depends on:
- The material
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The colour and finish to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Send pictures for a quote
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Something in shot to show the size
- Any details about the material
- Natural light rather than flash
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
