About our wood floor repair in The City

Laminate swollen by water can’t be repaired, and we will tell you if that is the case. Boards are repaired where they lie, with the colour and grain matched by hand. We work on engineered wood, solid wood and wood-effect vinyl (ask us), and common reasons people get in touch are gouges from moving appliances and chipped board edges.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe up spills promptly.

The City: your questions answered

Do you come to The City?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to The City. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Does the room need clearing?

Only from the area we are working on.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What wood floor repair costs

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • One picture of the entire floor
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For a price in The City, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What we are called out for in The City

Furniture, pets and dropped items mark wood and laminate floors, and sliding appliances can gouge the boards.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Gouges from moving appliances
  • Chipped board edges
  • Scratches from furniture and pets
  • Dents from dropped items

Before booking anyone

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the colour is matched
  • If travel is included in the price

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the damaged area.
  2. We fill dents, chips and gouges.
  3. We level the repair to the board surface.
  4. The colour and grain are recreated by hand.
  5. We finish the repair to match the sheen of the floor.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the floor, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged board can mean lifting the floor back to it, sourcing a matching board and laying it all again. A repair leaves the floor down. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
