Repairs by material
Period and antique
Older basins may have crazing, chips and makers’ marks. We repair carefully around original features.
Vitreous china
Ceramic basins have a hard, glassy glaze. Matching that shine is the key to a good repair, so we finish the repair to the same sheen.
Sink repair in The City, done in place
We repair bathroom basins, cloakroom basins, vanity units and period basins, in ceramic, composite and enamel. There is no plumbing to disconnect. If you’re dealing with cracks starting at the waste and damage to a basin in a vanity unit, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- Do not rest hot hair tools on the basin
- Use gentle cleaners
- Repair chips before they stain
- Avoid strong bleach and descalers
Do not rest hot hair tools or heavy bottles on the rim, so it does not get chipped again.
Cracks by the tap holes can grow, so get it looked at early. If it’s leaking, turn off the water to the basin until it’s checked.
What happens on the day
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We protect the area around the basin.
- We clean and prepare the chip or crack.
- We fill it and shape it to the basin’s curve.
- We match the colour by hand.
- The repair is polished to the basin’s gloss and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

The City questions
What areas do you cover?
We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Are you accredited?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
What do you need from me?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Can a cracked sink be fixed?
Normally, if it is not leaking. If it leaks through, replacement is normally better.
Landlords, agents and businesses in The City
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Buckinghamshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- The material and finish
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Doing more than one item at once
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed quote
Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A photo taken from further back
If you’re in The City and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Matching a discontinued basin can be impossible, particularly if it matches the toilet and bath. Repairing it keeps the suite together. Our sink repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for The City. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
