Non-Slip Bath Coating in Ceredigion

Non-slip bath coating at your home in Ceredigion

It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. We’re often asked to fix worn-out textured areas and bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten, across enamelled baths, acrylic baths and resurfaced baths.

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We clean and degrease the standing area.
  2. We mask out the area to be treated.
  3. The clear textured coating is applied.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, typically overnight.

What you will pay

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Around Aberystwyth

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Yr Hen Orsaf (JD Wetherspoon) pub, The Mathematical and Commercial School and Ysgol Padarn Sant and the streets around them. Nearby too are Ysgol Penglais (0.9 miles east) and Holy Trinity Parish Church (less than half a mile north). There’s a railway station in Aberystwyth itself: Aberystwyth station. Further afield, we also cover the area around Bronglais Hospital (within half a mile north-east) and Aberystwyth Castle (0.5 miles west). Green spaces nearby include Penglais Nature Park and Constitution Hill.

  • Parks and local facilities nearby include Parsel Canol (2.7 miles east)

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How we price non-slip bath coating

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower tray
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repairing versus replacing

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or a bath mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A non-slip coating adds grip to the bath you have.

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • If travel is included in the price
  • How your room will be protected

How the damage happens

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, but with soap and water on them they become slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Questions from Ceredigion

What information do you need?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Ceredigion. Prices don’t change with location.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

What happens after I send pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, generally with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.
