Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Non-slip bath coating at your home in Ashbourne

The coating is clear and textured, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. It suits homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. Typical jobs include bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet, in enamelled baths, acrylic baths and shower trays.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Repair or replace in Ashbourne?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or a bath mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A coating adds grip to the bath you have. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What non-slip bath coating costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Ashbourne. What changes the price is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower tray
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Common problems we fix in Ashbourne

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet with soap and water on them they become slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

People typically call us after spotting one of these:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Worn-out textured areas

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ashbourne

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Ashbourne: your questions answered

How do I get a price for non-slip bath coating in Ashbourne?

Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your DE6 postcode.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do you cover the whole of Derbyshire?

The entire UK, including all of Derbyshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

What a repair can’t fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Acrylic baths

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We clean and degrease the standing area.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, typically overnight.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

How to get a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
