What we’re called out for in Ashbrittle

Smooth surfaces are easy to clean, but with soap and water on them they become slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Safety for older or less mobile people

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What prep work is covered
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What aftercare is recommended

10 questions to ask before booking

Non-slip bath coating in Ashbrittle, done in place

It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. Our technicians work on wet room floors (ask us), enamelled baths and resurfaced baths, and the jobs we see most are bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten and worn-out textured areas.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Ashbrittle as everywhere else we work. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How do I book?

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How do I clean it?

Yes. A soft brush and mild cleaner is all it needs.

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work
  • The material

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower tray
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower tray, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

How it works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes a few hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
  2. We mask out the area to be treated.
  3. The clear textured coating is applied.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Enamelled baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

Instead, you could go for a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A coating treats your existing bath or tray. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Ashbrittle clients choose us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • No need to remove anything

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
