About our non-slip bath coating in Bagpath
The coating is clear and textured, so the bath looks much the same. It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. Common call-outs are for resurfaced baths that are now too smooth and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet, across enamelled baths, acrylic baths and resurfaced baths.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Avoid scourers on the coating.

Prices and what affects them
There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- The material
- The type of damage
- How many items we do on one visit
- The colour and finish to match
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your pictures
Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A photo taken from further back
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
How the visit works
Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.
- We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
- The area to be treated is masked out.
- The clear textured coating is applied.
- We lift the masking for a clean edge.
- We leave it to cure, generally overnight.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Let us know which floor the room is on

Questions from Bagpath
Do I have to be there?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Will the price change on the day?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

When to call us in Bagpath
Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Safety for older or less mobile people
- Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
- Worn-out textured areas
- Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth

Repair or replace: which is better?
The alternatives are replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
