What we are called out for in Cathays

Smooth surfaces are easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Worn-out textured areas
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Aftercare advice
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

10 questions to ask before booking

Non-slip bath coating at your home in Cathays

It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. We regularly repair enamelled baths, shower trays and acrylic baths, and people most often call us about resurfaced baths that are now too smooth and worn-out textured areas.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Don’t use abrasive pads on the textured area.

What non-slip bath coating costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Cathays. What changes the price is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your photos

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • One picture of the entire bath or shower tray
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Questions from Cathays

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

How do I clean it?

Yes. Use a soft brush and a mild cleaner.

Do you come to Cathays?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Cathays and the rest of Cardiff. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will I see the coating?

Very little: the treated area looks slightly matt.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

How much does non-slip bath coating cost in Cathays?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Acrylic baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. We mask out the area to be treated.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, generally overnight.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Cathays, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Cathays, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Why repair rather than replace?

The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A coating adds grip to the bath you have. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
