Non-slip bath coating in Chepstow

Common questions in Chepstow

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

What does non-slip bath coating cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will a non-slip coating change how my bath looks?

Very little: the treated area looks slightly matt.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Non-slip bath coating in Chepstow, done in place

It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. If you are dealing with a bath or tray that is slippery when wet and resurfaced baths that are now too smooth, we can help, whatever the material.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Avoid scourers on the coating.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Chepstow use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Prices and what affects them

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower tray
  • Details of any past repairs

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Why repair rather than replace?

The alternatives are replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A coating adds grip to the bath you have. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

What we are called out for in Chepstow

Smooth surfaces are easy to clean, but with soap and water on them they become slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

People normally call us after spotting one of these:

  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Worn-out textured areas

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What preparation is included
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Choosing a repair company

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Shower trays
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Acrylic baths
  • Enamelled baths
  • Resurfaced baths

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. The clear textured coating is applied.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
