Non-slip bath coating in Fairseat, done in place

It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. It suits homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. We’re often asked to fix bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten and worn-out textured areas, across shower trays, resurfaced baths and wet room floors (ask us).

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Fairseat as everywhere else we work. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Don’t use abrasive pads on the textured area.

How we price non-slip bath coating

We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Why repair rather than replace?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A coating treats your existing bath or tray. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Resurfaced baths

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We clean and degrease the standing area.
  2. We mask out the area to be treated.
  3. The clear textured coating is applied.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, typically overnight.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Advice

Questions from Fairseat

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Is a non-slip bath easy to clean?

Yes. Use a soft brush and a mild cleaner.

Will I see the coating?

Very little: the treated area looks slightly matt.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Worn-out textured areas
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What prep work is covered
