  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten

About our non-slip bath coating in Farcet

It’s a clear, textured coating, so the bath looks much the same. It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. Common call-outs are for safety for older or less mobile people and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet, in enamelled baths, resurfaced baths and shower trays.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Farcet as everywhere else we work. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Avoid scourers on the coating.

How we price non-slip bath coating

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays
  • Resurfaced baths

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Should you replace it?

Instead, you could go for a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Farcet. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, usually overnight.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Questions from Farcet

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, typically with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

Will I see the coating?

Only slightly: the treated area looks slightly matt.
