The coating is clear and textured, so the bath looks much the same. It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. Before and after: an old shower tray refinished by Surface Doctor

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Resurfaced baths
  • Shower trays
  • Enamelled baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. The coating is left to cure before use, typically overnight.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Repair or replace in Havering-atte-Bower?

The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A coating treats your existing bath or tray. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

How we price non-slip bath coating

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower tray

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.
