Non-slip bath coating for Lowerhouses homes

Non-slip bath coating in Lowerhouses, done in place

It’s a clear, textured coating, so the bath looks much the same. It suits older people, families and holiday lets. We are frequently asked to fix resurfaced baths that are now too smooth and safety for older or less mobile people, across shower trays, resurfaced baths and enamelled baths.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. The coating is left to cure before use, typically overnight.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let us know about parking or access

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower tray, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

What non-slip bath coating costs

Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower tray
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Lowerhouses: your questions answered

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Kirklees.

Are there extra charges for Lowerhouses?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you come to Lowerhouses?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Lowerhouses. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Do you need non-slip bath coating in Lowerhouses?

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Worn-out textured areas

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Our hiring checklist

When a repair is not the answer

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Resurfaced baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or a bath mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A non-slip coating adds grip to the bath you have. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
