Need non-slip bath coating in Slack?

Should you replace it?

Instead, you could go for a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A coating treats your existing bath or tray. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

About our non-slip bath coating in Slack

It’s a clear, textured coating, so the bath looks much the same. It suits older people, families and holiday lets. We work on resurfaced baths, wet room floors (ask us) and shower trays, and the jobs we see most are worn-out textured areas and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Avoid scourers on the coating.

What affects the price in Slack

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Slack. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower tray, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What we’re called out for in Slack

Smooth surfaces are easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Safety for older or less mobile people

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What prep work is covered

Slack questions

Will I see the coating?

Only slightly: it shows as a matt area where you stand.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a few hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
  2. We mask out the area to be treated.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. The coating is left to cure before use, normally overnight.

How to prepare

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Calderdale and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
