Bath repair across B30: what to expect
A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We’re often asked to fix scratches you can feel with a fingernail and cracks in an acrylic bath, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.
Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
What it costs in B30
Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

When we’d advise against a repair
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
Should I try a DIY kit first?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Rinse it down after each bath
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.
What we’re called out for in B30
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Damage beneath the taps
- A cracked acrylic bath
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- A chipped rim or side
Repair or replace?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is.
Questions to ask before booking
- What aftercare is recommended
- How the room is protected while they work
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- If travel is included in the price
B30 questions
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Can tenants book a repair?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
What happens if you find more damage?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.
Do you cover B30?
We do. Repair technicians travel to B30 from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Most baths can be used the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.
