How bath repair works in CV34

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Typical jobs include snagging damage from a refit and rust by the waste and overflow, across whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take two to three hours for most chips, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

What you’ll pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A steel bath rusted through

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is.
