Bath repair at your home in DT4

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can typically bathe again the day after. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. Typical jobs include chips on the rim or sides and holes from dropped items, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips, tidy-up included.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Near you in Weymouth

In Weymouth, that means homes near The Star Public House, Beechcroft St Pauls CofE Primary School and Nothe Gardens and the streets around them. Nearby too are Budmouth College (1.2 miles west) and Church of St Paul (less than half a mile south). There is a railway station in Weymouth itself: Weymouth station. Further afield, we also cover the area around Portwey Hospital (0.6 miles south) and Weymouth Timewalk Museum (0.9 miles west). For a walk, there is Jordan Hill and Radipole Lake.

How to look after the repair

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for DT4. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

How the damage happens

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Repair or replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • When it can be used again
  • How to care for the finish

Questions from DT4

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

When can I have a bath again?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we have done.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed quote. You are under no obligation.
