About bath repair in KW1

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Our repair technicians work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are a chipped rim or side and damage beneath the taps.

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Prices in KW1

Near you in Wick

We visit homes around Bignold Park, The Alexander Bain pub and Wick High School and the streets around them. There’s a railway station in Wick itself: Wick station. Further afield, we also cover the area around Wick Heritage Museum (within half a mile south-west) and Castle of Old Wick (1.2 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Loch Hempriggs.

Repairing versus replacing

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it.

What your quote should include

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How to look after the finish
  • Who will actually do the work

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

What we’re called out for in KW1

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

The things clients generally mention when they call are:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

KW1: your questions answered

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Do you come to KW1?

We do. Repair technicians travel to KW1 from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

How do I get a price for bath repair in KW1?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.
