Bath repair across LA1: what to expect

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and common reasons people get in touch are a hole punched through by something heavy and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

Prices in LA1

What affects the price in LA1

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for LA1. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath

If you’re in LA1 and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

How the damage happens

A cracked acrylic bath normally wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

FAQs for LA1

How do I get a price for bath repair in LA1?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your LA1 postcode.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Usually, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
