Our bath repair service in LD6
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are a kit repair that didn’t last and chips under the taps.
Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the following day.
Prices in LD6
Prices start from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

When we’d advise against a repair
To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
What affects the price in LD6
Prices start from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The size and number of damaged areas
- How hard the colour is to match
- The type of damage
The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.
How to get a fixed price
You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Where you are, by postcode
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.
DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
How to look after the repair
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Have new chips seen to early
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
LD6: your questions answered
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Powys.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Is a bath repair durable?
Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
