Bath repair across LD1: what to expect
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. There is no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles are not touched, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are chips caused by builders and cracks in an acrylic bath.
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips, tidy-up included.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.
Prices in LD1
Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What we are called out for in LD1
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Damage beneath the taps
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
Work for landlords and builders
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Powys and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
How to care for the repair
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
There’s nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
LD1 questions
Is it messy?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
What happens after I send photos?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
