Bath repair at your home in LL38
It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about snagging damage from a refit and rust spots around the plughole.
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
Honest limits
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- A steel bath rusted through
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Have new chips seen to early
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Signs you need bath repair
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
The things clients generally mention when they call include:
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Chips under the taps
- Snagging damage from a refit
- A kit repair that didn’t last
LL38: your questions answered
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
When can I have a bath again?
Most baths can be used the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.
Do you work in LL38?
Yes, we do. We send a technician to LL38 for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
