Bath repair at your home in NE37

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We are often asked to fix chips along the edge of the bath and a cracked acrylic bath, in whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage. The room is left tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.

Cost

Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How the damage happens

A cracked acrylic bath usually wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Landlord and trade work in NE37

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in NE37 use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

NE37 questions

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Gateshead.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including NE37 and the rest of Gateshead. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.
