Bath repair at your home in NR21

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We’re frequently asked to fix cracks in an acrylic bath and damage beneath the taps, on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Pricing in NR21

Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Common problems we fix in NR21

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • Chips under the taps
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
