Bath repair across NR27: what to expect
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most often call us about scratches you can feel with a fingernail and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, including clearing up.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the day after.
What it costs in NR27
Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for NR27. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Repair or replace?
People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Usually it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement.
What your quote should include
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- When it can be used again
- Who will actually do the work
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
Aftercare tips
It’s all simple stuff:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
When we’d advise against a repair
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A steel bath rusted through
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for NR27. What changes the price is:
- How many areas need work
- Unusual colours or finishes
- What kind of damage it is
- The material
The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
How to get a fixed quote
Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Something in shot to show the size
- Where you are, by postcode
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.
