Bath re-enamelling at your home in Cromer
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We’re often asked to fix a bath in a colour that no longer suits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Common questions in Cromer
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
What areas do you cover?
Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
What happens next?
You’ll get a fixed quote back, typically with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.
Do you resurface freestanding baths?
Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
Will the new finish last?
It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.
Common problems we fix in Cromer
A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
The things clients usually mention when they call are:
- A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- A roll-top that is seen better days
What your quote should include
- How to care for the finish
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- If travel is included in the price
- Who turns up on the day
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Repairing versus replacing in Cromer
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

The process
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Never use suction bath mats
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
DIY kit or professional repair?
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Steel that has corroded right through
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we repair
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How much damage there is
- How easy the damage is to reach
- How hard the colour is to match
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.
Send photos for a quote
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Natural light rather than flash
