Bath repair across PL8: what to expect
You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include rust by the waste and overflow and a chipped rim or side, in pressed steel enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths.
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a few hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.
Cost
Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Signs you need bath repair
Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- Snagging damage from a refit
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- Rust by the waste and overflow
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
How to care for the repair
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

PL8: your questions answered
When can I have a bath again?
Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we have done.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
In most cases. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Can landlords book you?
Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
