Our bath repair service in PO19

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Common call-outs are for rust by the waste and overflow and snagging damage from a refit, across cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

What you’ll pay

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Around Chichester

Our clients here include homes close to Lancastrian Infant School, Church of St Paul and Central C of E Junior School, among other places. Nearby too are Chichester High School For Girls (0.7 miles south) and George and Dragon Inn (within half a mile south-east). For rail, the closest station is Chichester station, roughly 0.6 miles south of the centre. A little further out are Novium Museum (less than half a mile south) and Chichester Castle (under half a mile east). Not far away are Stoke Down and Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for PO19. What changes the price is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Send photos for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

PO19: your questions answered

Will the repair show?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
