Bath repair at your home in RG4
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, generally in a single visit. Common call-outs are for a kit repair that didn’t last and impact holes in acrylic, across acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.
What you’ll pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
Landlords, agents and businesses in RG4
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
What a repair can’t fix
Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
Aftercare tips
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Questions from RG4
Will the price change on the day?
If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
What happens next?
We come back with a fixed price, normally with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.
What does bath repair cost?
Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Reading.
Do the materials smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
