How bath repair works in RG2
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We’re frequently asked to fix rust spots around the plughole and impact holes in acrylic, in cast iron enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths.
Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
What you will pay
Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why customers in RG2 choose us

Ask for a price
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

When we’d advise against a repair
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
Repair or replace?
Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price.

DIY kit or professional repair?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Keeping it looking good
Aftercare is simple:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
Questions from RG2
How quickly can you book me in?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to RG2 and the rest of Reading. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
