How bath repair works in SS8
We have repaired just about every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. Each is repaired in place. Typical jobs include deep scratches in acrylic and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, across pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel.
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, including clearing up.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What it costs in SS8
Our bath repair starts from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Getting a price
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Near you in Canvey Island
Our customers here include homes close to Castle View School, St Nicholas and Furtherwick Park School, among other places. Other local landmarks include The Monico pub (0.8 miles south-east), Canvey Lake (less than half a mile north) and St Josephs Catholic Primary School (less than half a mile east). The nearest railway station is Benfleet station, roughly 1.8 miles north-west of the centre. Further afield, we also cover the area around Bay Museum (0.7 miles south) and Hadleigh Castle (1.9 miles north-east). For a walk, there’s West Canvey Marshes RSPB reserve.
Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
When we’d advise against a repair
Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
Work for landlords and builders
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.
Why repair rather than replace?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement.
What your quote should include
