Bath and surface repairs in WD25

Live in WD25? Our technicians cover Watford, Woodside and Meriden and every street in between, repairing in place.

About bath repair in WD25

We have repaired just about every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. All of it is repaired where the bath stands. We’re often asked to fix a kit repair that didn’t last and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes two to three hours for most chips. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Cost

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Should you replace it?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it.

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
