How bath repair works in HA7
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are rust spots around the plughole and chips caused by builders.
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the next day.
Cost
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why repair rather than replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
For landlords and businesses
Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
When a repair isn’t the answer
We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
Your questions about bath repair in HA7
What about rust by the waste?
Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.
What happens next?
You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
