Shower tray repair near Askern

Shower tray repair in Askern, done in place

The first thing we do is check the tray: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, or the crack will come back. We’ll tell you if that’s the case. Whether it’s scratches in the surface and cracks running from the waste, we can typically put it right, on ceramic, cast iron and stone resin alike.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Doncaster.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Askern questions

How long does it take to cure?

Normally by the following day. We will confirm before we leave.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

Not until you know the crack is not letting water through. Look for damp or stains below.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Exposed metal can rust, so early repairs help.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It typically takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When a repair is not the answer

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron
  • Ceramic

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tray normally involves removing the screen and tiling, relaying the base and tiling again. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Use the extractor fan

Check the silicone around the tray every few months, and replace it when it splits or goes black.

Don’t keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, and the damage below is not visible.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A wider photo showing the whole shower tray

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
