Shower tray repair in Brynawel, done in place

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces can all be put right without removing the tray. Our technicians work on cast iron, enamelled steel and stone resin, and the jobs we see most are damage from a refit or building work and a crack across the base.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

When to call us in Brynawel

Trays crack mainly because they move: without a solid, level base underneath, it flexes each time someone stands on it. Dropped bottles cause most chips.

Common reasons people in Brynawel contact us are:

  • Cracks running from the waste
  • A damaged area around the waste
  • Chips on the edges
  • Movement when you stand on it

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Landlord and trade work in Brynawel

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When a repair is not the answer

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • A tray that moves underfoot

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Ceramic
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron
  • Stone resin
  • Enamelled steel

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Rinse the tray after each shower

Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, so they cannot be knocked over.

If the tray creaks or moves, get it checked, before it cracks.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Getting a price

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
