What a repair cannot fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Ceramic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tray generally means removing the screen and tiling, preparing a new base and tiling again. Repairing or resurfacing the tray leaves all of that alone. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Repairs by material

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so a firm base is essential. We repair cracks and scratches.

What we do, step by step

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the entire tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. The repair is colour-matched, or the entire tray gets a new finish.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can usually be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A wider photo showing the whole shower tray
  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
