Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray

Give the repair its full curing time before showering. After that, gentle cleaning and good ventilation keep it in good shape.

Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

Shower tray repair in Dinas, done in place

You do not always need a new tray. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. Whether it’s scuffs and light scratches and edge chips from dropped bottles, we can help, on ceramic, enamelled steel and cast iron alike.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Dinas and across Gwynedd.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

Common problems we fix in Dinas

On timber floors, movement can crack a tray, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On concrete, an uneven base is the usual cause.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A tray that creaks or moves underfoot
  • Damage from a refit or building work
  • Edge chips from dropped bottles
  • A cracked shower tray

Different materials, different repairs

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so good support matters. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

When we would advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic
  • Stone resin

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the entire tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
  5. Once cured, generally by the following day, you can use the shower.

Getting ready for the visit

Your questions about shower tray repair in Dinas

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is a cracked tray repairable?

Typically, if the tray is firmly supported. We reinforce the crack, fill it and refinish the surface.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

When can I use the shower again?

Normally by the following day. We’ll tell you the exact time when we finish.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new shower tray normally involves taking out the enclosure and tiles, preparing a new base and tiling again. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • No need to remove anything

See our pricing.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
