When a repair is not the answer

  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Shower tray repair at your home in Eastbourne

A cracked or chipped shower tray does not always need replacing. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. Common call-outs are for chips or cracks by the plughole and damage from a refit or building work, across enamelled steel, ceramic and acrylic.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Use the extractor fan

Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, so they cannot be knocked over.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

The process

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

FAQs for Eastbourne

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can a stained tray be refinished?

Yes. We can resurface the whole tray for a fresh finish.

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

We’d stop using it until it’s repaired, because water may be getting underneath.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do you work in Eastbourne?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Eastbourne. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you redo the sealant?

Yes, if you’d like us to. It’s a good time to replace old sealant.

Repairs by material

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. They crack if the base isn’t fully supported, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

What affects the price in Eastbourne

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Eastbourne. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Access to the area
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A wider photo showing the whole shower tray
  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

Common problems we fix in Eastbourne

Cracks often start at the waste, because that is where the tray is weakest and the fitting puts pressure on it.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • A damaged area around the waste
  • A crack across the base
  • Scratches from cleaning or grit
  • Chipped corners or rims

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How your room will be protected
  • How long it needs to cure

How to compare quotes

Why repair rather than replace?

If the tray is solid and the crack hasn’t let water spread, repair is normally best. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Fixed prices from your photos
